Raven Shaw

About Raven

Raven left their home community because things at home had become difficult and they wanted greater safety and independence. After moving to Edmonton, their savings ran out and they struggled to find stable housing. While staying at a shelter, Raven met a group who welcomed them and began treating them like family. They offered Raven a place to stay, shared food, provided transportation, and helped them when they had no money.

Raven was grateful for the support and wanted to contribute to the household. They eventually found a part-time job cleaning office buildings. The group expected Raven to contribute most of their earnings toward the household because everyone needed to help pay for food, rent, transportation, and other shared expenses. They regularly reminded Raven that they had taken care of them when they had no money and nowhere else to go.

Raven also helps around the home by cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, grocery shopping, and running errands for the family. Between their household responsibilities and the money they are expected to contribute, Raven has been unable to save enough money to get their own place.

Over time, Raven has started feeling uncomfortable living in the home and wants to become independent. When Raven recently brought up contributing less money so they could start saving for their own place, the group became upset and told Raven that if they could not contribute, they would have to leave.

Raven became scared because they have nowhere else to go and do not want to become homeless again. They feel stuck between wanting their own place and feeling responsible for the group that helped them when they had nothing.
