Thanking Carey Collins and Welcoming Our Next Chapter

For 2 years, Carey Collins led ACT (Action Coalition on Human Trafficking) with unwavering resolve and a deep belief that every survivor deserves dignity, safety, and hope. Today, we're sharing that Carey has chosen to step down as Executive Director. She will remain in the role throughout the transition, working side by side with the Board to ensure a seamless handover to her successor. 

Carey joined our team in 2022 as a Communications Specialist and quickly grew into the role of Manager of Community Engagement before stepping into the Executive Director seat. Under her leadership, ACT grew from a regional organization into a truly national force against human trafficking. She broadened our scope into a national body. She expanded our education reach across the country, launched the Eliminate Language Barriers campaign to remove critical gaps in access, and built a self-directed online training course that has equipped thousands of front-line responders with the tools to recognize and respond to trafficking. 

More than any single initiative, Carey brought clarity of purpose to this work: ending human trafficking in Canada takes collective action, and every survivor's path to safety matters. We are profoundly grateful for her leadership, her advocacy, and her steadfast partnership with our staff, funders, and community allies. 

What This Means for ACT

Carey remains at the helm as Executive Director throughout the search and handover, so our front-line services, victim support, education and training, and community partnerships will continue without interruption or a gap in leadership. 

What's Next

The ACT Board of Directors has opened the search for our next Executive Director, a leader who will carry forward our mission of a Canada free of human trafficking and who brings the vision, integrity, and community trust this role demands.
