Maya: “I don't think so. I thought human trafficking was when someone gets kidnapped or brought to another country. My husband isn't a stranger, and I wasn't taken anywhere.”
-
Maya: “Maybe. He did help me when I needed somewhere to live and helped with the kids. But over time it felt like I couldn't really say no to him. He would remind me that I needed him and that I wouldn't be able to manage on my own.”
-
Maya: “I'm not sure. I know there are things he wanted me to do that I didn't want to do. He would tell me that I needed to help because he was taking care of me and the kids. I'm more worried about what happens now. He says he's going to use my drinking in court and that I'll lose my children. I just want to keep my kids safe and figure out what I can do.”
